Every woman should have the right to have a child but her mental state has to be looked at. Having a child won't heal a persons wounds. It could make her mental state worsen. There are so many children in the world that are less fortunate because of their parents upbringing.
She needs time to heal physically and mentally before even thinking about having a child.

If she makes a decision to have a baby, in jail, then that's her choice. In regard to getting pregnant, hopefully visits like that are allowed, and if she needs IVF, then she should have to pay for it like everyone else does.
I am very much against when people say that 'someone gives up their social rights or entitlements when they commit a crime' They are entitled to the same level of healthcare and services as anyone else out there.
It's her choice to decide to have a baby, and bring it up as best she can, even if it is in a jail.

Of course she's capable, however the quality of life and possibly the future of the child could be very limited which would make the decision to go ahead and have a baby very unwise. In addition, her current mental status may not be fit to take care of a baby successfully.

Any child does not deserve to be brought up in these kind of environments. It`s not their fault that they have to suffer because of what the parent did. In my personal opinion, as a parent, I don`t think it`s humanely right.

I have to say that regardless of any females capabilities, any prison is no place for an infant or child. Who, in there right mind, would even consider such a thing? Well, on that note, Corby judgement is to be questioned on many levels. :-/

personally i think she should wait until she gets out of jail.... her mental state in jail certainly would impair her judgment on raising a child. and then who is actually going to pay for her to raise a child in jail anyhow, and then to throw another curve ball what happens if all women decide that whilst they are incarcerated that they will get pregnant and raise a child to ease their boredom. they are in jail away from the normal life for a reason so i am sorry no!

i have not heard of this story, but NO, as a mother myself, yes its a wonderful thing [at times not],but is this women going to be bringing up the bab in jail, or will she be out? if she is in jail then i would take the baby away from her if she is out of jail, then yes by all mean have as many as u want.

Regardless of what people think of Schappelle Corby, or her family, no one can dispute the support her family has given her. It is looking likely that she may be granted clemency, in which case there is every chance the child would not be born in a Indonesian prison anyway. I'm not "God", it's not my call as to say either way as to this woman's right to have a child or not, all I do know, is that, love her family or dislike her family, if Schappelle were to have a child, it would be loved and nurtured by that family. I can't imagine her sister, or her extended family not being fully committed to her child. I don't personally believe Schappelle Corby will serve much longer in prison, I don't condone drug smuggling, but she has served an extensive time in that prison, and it was never proven conclusively that she was guilty, and I think she will be released sooner rather than later.

I think its just a very VERY selfish thing for even to consider. makes me wonder is this just a way for her to find an early realise. Do you really want to raise your child in prison, thats not love, just straight up selfishness and as a mother and person who would be ok with this should not be a parent. I completly agree with you David a big NO!!!!!

What kind of life would a baby have in an indonesian jail? I am not in support of Corby having a child now, she already shows signs of emotional and psychological problems. A baby deserves a better life than that. Really, a baby isnt designed to mother- its mother for her comfort and I believe that at the moment Corby is not in a state to be the mother. Help herself first. Then, yes.

because of her mental state.i do not think she is capable of looking after a child.even if she has an early relief from prison in bali.i feel her mental state will not change, after what she has been through.you are certainly right that every woman has the right to bare a child.but you look at things mentally, some women do suffer from childbirth with post natal depression.also who is the father of the child going to be,a prison guard or another prisoner?as you can obviously see i am against schapelle getting pregnant and i fear for the childs life or upbringing

Her situation is very unfortunate. Whether she is guilty or not, jail is not the desirable environment to bring up a baby. As mentioned, her mental health has been unstable so it may not be the right time for her to have a baby. Although I totally agree that every woman has the right to be a Mother, but does that mean they should??

Hear Hear. You are so right. I didnt even think about the fact that she was having such a hard time that she supposidly had a nervous brake down yet she wants to bring a child into the scummy, filthy place. SHe doesnt derserve to be a mother. I dont see the difference between her and a parent who abuses their child, she is in the same catorgory

i'm not really sure about this one. i think every woman should have the right to have children, however you have to take everything into consideration when making such a huge choice. what are the living conditions there and what does she plan on teaching her child? she needs to realise that babies grow very quickly and what does she plan for her child's education? if she can answer these questions and be happy with the answers then maybe she could have a baby.

She could have a baby but her answering your questions and been ok with them doesnt make it right, just makes her very selfish. For what ever reasons she wants a baby im sure there not the right reasons.
