A one-hit wonder is a person or act known mainly for only a single success. So they may have recorded several songs but only one song is what everyone remembers them by.

Here's A Few Examples: -

Boston - More Than Feeling
U.K. Squeeze - Cool For Cats
Asia - Heat Of The Moment
Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart
The Vapors - Turning Japanese
Benny Mardones - Into The Night
Tommy Tutone - 8675309 (Jenny)
Lipps, Inc - Funky town
Terry Gibbs - Somebody's Knockin'
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares To U

Anyway, I always turn up the radio when they play Asia's Heat Of The Moment. So what's your favourite One Hit Wonder/s?

I'm an R&B fan so I'd say En Vogue's "Don't Let Go".

But sometimes it's a 'one hit wonder' in Australia, however, in other countries artists that we thought only had one hit actually keep selling overseas. Take Sinead O'Connor for example, she has recorded 9 studio albums and has sold over 14 million copies..that's quite a lot of sales. She also released 34 singles, most of which have been in the top 20. She seems to be quite popular in New Zealand as each of her albums from 1987 to 2000 all reached their top 40 charts.

I'm not a fan of hers, but just highlighting that 'one hit wonders' usually have had more than the one hit!

Actually, I have two that come to mind immediately. "Cows with guns" always makes me laugh and cheers me up. "Don't worry, be happy" is just great to listen to.

This song was by the amazing Haysi Fantayzee called Shiny Shiny, do you have any idea how expensive their Battle songs for children albujm is, not to mention how rare also, possibly because of this...

Haysi Fantayzee also had another quirky song titled John Wayne Is Big Leggy:-)

I found myself tracking down the Totally Krossed Out album by Kriss Kross a couple of weeks ago, luckily found cheap on eBay for a couple of dollars. Remember their song Jump, absolute classic!! .....Kriss Kross'll make ya jump, jump,ah ha ah ha!! Brilliant stuff!!!
