Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has been to the new Royal Adelaide Hospital in Adelaide?
What your thoughts are, as I think it would have made more sense to spend all that money & do up the old Royal Adelaide Hospital.
As I've found the new hospital not as easy to get there by public transport, also with the outpatient clinics you cannot ring them to get an emergency appointment or to speak to anyone. You have to ring a 1300 number. Last time I called, I was 29 in the queue.
It's very frustrating & people who work there say it looks nice but it's not practical & that is exactly right. Typical SA Government.
Any comments welcome.
Happy New Year to everyone!

Yes... what were they thinking? Why not just do like the Party of Bankers opposite & spend all the money on those few with vested interests & their mates instead of "wasting" all that money on building state-of-the-art facilities for the benefit of the majority of the people? Yes, typical SA Govt wasting so much money on gaining Energy Sovereignty over the inter-connector & generating multiple sources of energy so we can all have uninterrupted power throughout each & every summer. So typical of them to spend millions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars on publicly owned (as opposed to PPP's in all the other States), infrastructure on roads, bus-ways, electrified rail, ports, direct flights to Guangzhou, sports stadiums that have already paid for themselves... when in the same time period, what have the Liberal built? In the words of the SA Govt Minister, "...that little Rotunda over there"! You have no idea how much it would have cost year on year to upgrade the old site & just how rotten & unworkable the whole lot really was. Look, the building is built, but the details are not yet ironed out, which is a work in progress. You will find far more workers & far more supervisors at the old site who demanded the new site. You might blame it on your State Govt, but a lot of it is also due to the Medical Profession & their reluctance to co-operate & make things better for the people instead of just lining their own pockets in an industry that is collectively much bigger than a tiny State Govt who has the guts to stand up for the people against the Powers That Be! And all this comes out now, just a week before our election... disgraceful!

Baz, I wish I was as articulate as you!
You are spot on with everything you said.
Every single subject you mentioned is just so true & as you said in 12 days we have to vote
It really is a nitenare we are living.
Just watched the so called leaders of labour & liberal on Skynews & I really don't know what to do, what undisclosed other mess labour has covered up if liberal happens to win

I've spent some time in it and found it horrible, poorly thought out design (psych area) food was awful (and given no choice in what we received) the QEH is much better in this regard though looks a little run down

Hi Dan31314618
Thanks for your reply.
Yes it is very disappointing isn't it. All we hear is "it's state of the art hospital" from the government. They say that, but it does not function properly. It is very poorly designed & not practical. I was there on Wednesday the say the hospital had the Black out!
In the main foyer of the outpatients building, they had a section where they had pulled up the floor! It's only been open 5 months!
While I was seeing my rhymagologist, when I came out my mum said all they do is look for people & walk around. She came with me to have a look and said it has been set out very poorly & agrees with you, as do I, the QEH is much better. The cardiac department is quite new, not sure about the rest but I am thinking of getting my records sent there. It's much easier to get to for me also.
Take care :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)

I have not been yet but am going in February. Have an appointment at 8.55am in Outpatients so it's going to be interesting to see if I can find the place

Hi Lynne31372162
Thanks for your reply.
I too have another appointment in February. That's an early appointment. Not sure if you're using public transport or driving, but I can give some advice, wear some comfortable shoes! As there is alot of walking around involved. Which is ok, but it's awful to see the elderly trying to get around in the place.
Wishing you good luck with your appointment & good health
Lisa :)
