Assembly woes!

Recently I took advantage of an online offer that had a fairly light and inexpensive vacuum cleaner for sale but when it came I found that I had to assemble it myself. Sure it came with an instruction booklet (of sorts) but this did not help. I am absolutely hopeless at doing things like that and have resolved never to buy anything again unless it has already been assembled prior to leaving the warehouse. Just when are manufacturers going to realise that not everybody has the skills or even the tools required to assemble things themselves and cater for those people too??

I'm occasionally Ok with self assembly but generally am not all that good unless the instructions are clear. Sometimes there are just pictures with very little info and I don't do too well. I'd like to be better at it but either my brain doesn't work that way or I am just hopeless! either way, I am with you, I will make sure its assembled before I take it home or I don't buy!

I personally love assembling things and reading instructions. However, I do agree that it can be difficult to assemble certain stuff which I think your average joe can’t do easily.

You see quite a few people in a similar situation getting quotes on Airtasker for someone to come and do product assembly

Curious - what brand / model did you buy? It's normal for batteries to need to be put in. A fully electric one should only need the hose & nozzle put on.

If you're somewhere near Parramatta (NSW) and still need help with it, I'd be happy to have a look for you.

Thank-you PGS that's very nice of you but I'm in Queensland. Thanks all the same that's a lovely thought

Hi PGS...it was a rechargeable Dick Smith/Kogan vacuum cleaner and came with so many bits and pieces plus not very clear instructions at all.

I’m definitely not much of a handy woman myself and find myself in the same boat. I’d rather pay extra for something assembled than I would to snag a bargain that then requires hours of stress and time to put it together.
