I have ran a couple of marathons and a few half marathons in the UK. I wish to do one in Australia however I am struggling to run for a period longer than 15/20 mins. Is it the climate or something else? How do i improve this so I can get on with more marathon training?

It could be any number of reasons. I have completed a few half marathons and now I struggle to run 5 k. If I hop on a treadmill and watch some videos, I can run longer. I think you thoughts are very powerful. Often I attempt to run and tell myself, "I'm tired, I can't be bothered, it hurts, that's better than nothing", that will do. When I switch that to, "you've felt worse than this before, keep going", or similar, sometimes I can push myself. I know I should be able to push myself because to be honest, most of the half marathons I completed were with insufficient training, yet I crossed the finish line running all the way.

Find things within the environment to distract yourself when running. Look at others, the scenery, run puzzles/problem solving through your mind, relive fun events from the past. Mix it up - try different running course to minimize boredom.

When you're about to stop, challenge yourself,"I'll just run for one more minute", keep adding. Remind yourself that it's your choice to run and that you are not being forced to do it.

Hi
I have run 26 marathons six being under three hours. I think the marathon that would suit you is the gold coast marathon that is run in July Queensland winter. I have a blog at http://sub3hrmarathon.simplesite.com that may interest you
Good luck Ken

No idea. Maybe try cooler weather.

start training in the cooler periods of the day. Then gradually extend it to hotter times of the day.
All the time gradually increasing your length of training time too.
Ensure you hydrate all the while.
