Laser eye surgery gone wrong!

Laser Eye Surgery I also had to have laser eye surgery after 45 years as my eyes started rejecting contacts. It was unsuccessful the first time so had another! I now have shocking night vision which isnt helped with glasses and if tired can't see properly. Unfortunately I have experienced problems with my eyes ever since and although its great not having to put in contacts its worrying I may have damaged my eyes permanently. The doctor in question is only interested in a good reputation and money. And told me there was nothing wrong with my sight! He offered to do it a third time tho! Then I was told I was too shortsighted and too old and that is why I am having problems. Beware

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I have looked into laser surgery and decided that it is not an option for me. I have been wearing glasses for 13 years now and the frames are just getting nicer :D.

Having undergone eye surgery for retina detachment and when that healed having cataracts in both eyes attended to I am convinced that Slim went to one of those Cowboy operators that are promoting themselves on TV.
He is correct to say beware!
The Clinic and surgeons I dealt with were brilliant in every way .. in their diagnosis, explanation, actually surgery and follow-up. How many Specialists ring you just hours after the op to check on you? Mind did!
My eyesight is now considerably better that it was before.
Slim, I suggest you get a second or even a third opinion... but make sure it's from a reliable and referred Specialist.
I'd be happy to recommend my Specialist to you.

After reading the about the problems which may accur after laser eye surjery, I am reconsidering having this treatment at present, however if my eyesight does deteriate I will certainly give more thought to this problem,.In he meantime my prescription glasses need updating , so this must be my first consideration.

i considered it however the cost was too high for me ($950.00 per eye) but now a few years later it's nearly $1300.00 an eye. but as they say if your going blind it only prolongs the inevitable.which isn't good. if however i was getting cateracts in my eyes that would be a different surgery/story

I was told when I began investigating LASIK surgery that night vision would almost certainly be affected (and mine is already bad enough) - but the worst thing is the chance of light sensitivity being made worse. I already suffer terribly - even in shopping centres the lights are too bright, and I can't go anywhere without my prescription sunglasses! LASIK makes this even worse, so I am obviously not a candidate - but I could go ahead despite the side effects - but then I could not complain if it got worse.
You should have been warned of all the possible side effects of the surgery - but it is also up to anyone considering this kind of drastic surgery to do as much research as they can before weighing up the positives against the possible negatives. This is the duty of care of anyone considering life-altering surgery of any kind, but especially something as potentially devastating as eye surgery where the side effects can be as serious as complete blindness.
I am sorry you are now having such problems. I have every sympathy for you. I would hate for my eyes to be any worse than they currently are (aside from normal myopic changes which I have no control over), so i can empathise with your situation. It is sad that it has come to this point. *hugs*

I'm sorry but I would not even go down that path unless I had to and even then I would give it a second thought. I think these day's with so many wonderful and nice looking frames around for glasses I think I'm happy with that. I have worn glasses for 10 or so years and I do not even wear contacts,do not like them.So I'll stick to spectacles thanks.
