It is hard as I use to know of one older person who made wrong choices in life got in with the wrong people at primary school as they were in high school and it did ruin their life to some extent.
You have to guide them to make the right choices in life, set examples, get involved with their schooling attend their school events get to know their friends and their parents.
But my children were born in the eighties and it is different today with so much social media and computer games. It seems to restrict their social life face to face contact and outdoor play.
