It appears that, all goverment bodies this inclueds local councils, of what people really want. All that appears to behappening now is to bleed the people of thier money. Federal goverments have bought out hidden ways or indirect way of bleeding people with taxes, State goverments are worse, then you get local councils with thier rules regulations taxes rates and what ever else they can find you for or charge you for. Then goverments donot stop Coles Woolworth dictating grocery, licque and petrol. But the worst thing we the people let all of this happen. IT's not really a free country IT's a form of dictatership.

Hi gee w I agree we are not getting what we want from our government and that is why this coming election is so important. We need a government that is truly for the people and of benefit to the country and not merely there to fulfil their own agenda. Labor has been too much influenced by the trade unions and we have paid a price in the form of massive debt and waste. The Greens look at everything through rose (or should I say green) tinted glasses which does nothing for the economy. I feel the Coalition have the best policies if they do fulfil them and I very much hope that with a new government Australia just may recover.

Hi you are right in what you say and I agree with most of it. However we will all have our official say on Saturday when we vote. This has truly been the worst 6 years and I can't wait for a...

While we can't always take part in forums - Q&A - Mondays on the ABC - gives ordinary people a chance to ask some thorny questions of the panel - usually includes a politician or two. Last week, Get Up had a couple of similar interviews that might be of interest. We can hear others are voicing opinions and views with which we can identify, www.getup.org.au/live - sorry I can't do the 'link thing'. Heard last week - Coles and Woolworth are finally listening to what we want - they're buying fruit from Australian producers.

I'm afraid I'm totally disillusioned with both major parties. The endless sideshow day after day - money for this, money for that - crazy, on the spot, headline-grabbing fodder for the media pack....

Hi Trushka as you know the election is over and from my point of view a great result. I am concerned though about two of the micro parties who will most likely be in the Senate. This is what happens when small odd parties get in. I just hope they don't bring disgrace to our politics. Seeing the stupid antics of the 'senator' from the Motoring enthusiasts party was far from what you would expect from a political party. He 'stunts' were inappropriate for a someone who wants to be taken seriously. People like him could just be a 'pest' when Bills are put before the Senate.
What do others think - is voting for micro parties such as this and the sports party taking democracy too far?

Any chance of a government of independents - individuals from the community, for the community that elect them???

I agree, I want to go to those forums they call a discussion or debate and yell at them to "shut up" and listen to the Australian public - get down from their ivory towers where they give themselves pay rises whenever they want, they spend the tax payers money on holidays and trips and they will have a 100, or even 1000 times better super packages than the average worker, they get way to much added extra's than the average person. it feels more like the olden days where is Robin Hood when you need him!. seriously where is their accountability
we employ them to do a job, why can't they have a probationary period and if they have not done the job to the satisfaction of the public we should be able to have them made to leave, I think the Australian public have put up with their incompetence far too long, it's the waste of the taxpayers time money and having to see the waste on advertising on the candidate for the coming election.
what we need a strong intelligent no nonsense person who will think about OUR future not THEIR future - I am tired of all idiots, full of their own self import ant's
Sorry, it just makes me angry - I've paid my taxes and was made redundant last year and only got part time work - I'm struggling to live and I've seen first had the money that goes into "migrants, refugee's and boat people
Maybe they should employ more people around the area's they come in to deter them- I do feel for the real refugee's and migrants but what about our homeless and disabled people, the pensioners - our taxes are being used not for us but to settle these people into the country - when will it stop - they talk and talk about it but they still keep coming - they put them somewhere else and then they find another way of entering Australia
now we here they will drop the school bonus - and more jobs will be cut from major services and then talk of creating 2 million more jobs
sorry it just doesn't make sense
