Have you tried share accommodation? It might not be exactly what you want but at least its a place to stay.

Pester power when it comes to letting agents really can pay off. Make sure the agents in the area you're looking in get to know your name, face, likes and dislikes,
how good a tenant you will be, how solid your income is, how nice you are. Before long they will find you a place just to get rid of you. I kid not.
