I'm on the road quite a lot and see many things happening. Some of these occurrences are mildly annoying and others are downright dangerous. What have you seen out there on our roads ? How annoyed or angered were you by what you saw ? What can be done about it ?

I get annoyed by the fact that people in Perth can't mange to use escalators or stairs properly. They don't seem to know the walk on the left rule. If I get to the station as a train is coming in, I can't get to the platform because those coming use the entire space on the stairs.
It is not so bad as their lack of knowledge with regard to escalators. They don't know the stand on the left, walk on the right rule, which is a pain if you are in a hurry. Worse than that they don't know basic physics, that if you stop when you get off, the people behind will plough into you. Often the person who has stopped will turn around and berate you for your lack of manners in bumping them. Eleven people ended up in hospital recently due to a pile up a the end of the escalator.
The other one that really annoys me if that people don't wait to let everyone off the train before they shove their way on. It doesn't make the train go any faster and it is easier to get on if everyone gets off first.

My biggest issue are people that cannot park their own car! Either over the line, or so crooked you just can't use the car spot next to them. How did you get your license?? I can't stand when people go through the lights at a very slow pace like they are thinking "oh great as long as i make it" especially on lights that are short.. um don't leave a 400m gap between you & the car in front, there is a line of cars trying to go so move it.....

drivers that annoy me are those who drive at 5-10kph below the speed limit and when they get to the start of passing lane increase their speed up to the limit or even 10kph faster than the limit and then slow back down to 5-10kph below the limit at the end of the passing lane. I don't know if their driving habit is illegal or not, but it sure does create a long line of frustrated drivers behind them - and that's not safe for everyone. I also hate tailgaters - they frighten me wondering if they're going to come through the back of my car if we had to suddenly stop or they weren't paying attention as I slow to make a turn.

Three main things:-
- Constant lane changers causing even more traffic slow downs
- People speeding to get past then driving below the general pace of the traffic
- Slowing down as they merge into a freeway instead of pacing up to the vehicle ahead

Bit of tongue in cheek.

Then there are the lunatics doing burnouts and speeding to get home so they can get on a forum asap to complain about the price of fuel and tyres.

Mobie phones, not indicating, speeding, tending to children/passengers/handbags, looking at maps while actually driving are just a few that I have seen ately. The only thing that could be done would be a much larger police presence on the road [be honest- when did you last see a police car just patrolling the streets?] to reduce these behaviours.

The two things that cheese me off are people who pass you on double white lines. Also people who use mobile phones whilst driving when we know it is against the law. Both are Dangerous.

Mobile phones are a big problem even with the hands free I believe concentration is taken away from driving and also tailgating which i see all the time when on the road, I really doesn't seem like legislation does anything to solve either of these problems

It seems that everyone hates to see the driver of a car using a mobile phone. Even though this is illegal people are still doing it. While waiting at traffic lights I watched in the rear vision mirror as the girl driving the car behind me was texting on her phone and didn't even see I had stopped at the red light. There was nothing I could do but wait while her car rammed into the back of me. Another thing that really irks me is that a large number of drivers do not signal where they are going until they are half way round the corner then put their blinkers on. What happened to signalling well before the anticipated turn.

My pet hate is the driver who pulls out from a side road, forcing you to brake to let them in, then drives at 20kph below the speed limit. A close second is the one who does not maintain an even speed, slowing down every time a car approaches, or at even the slightest bend in the road.

Mobile phone users, people who fail to indicate, especially around roundabouts, tailgaters, people who fail to drive to conditions, speeders, people who do illegal u-turns (especially at traffic lights), people who flick cigarette out their windows, people who throw rubbish out their windows, people who fail to do 40km or less in s school zone (especially those with children in the car or "children on board" stickers), people who are doing less than the posted limit on a two lane highway/freeway who refuse to move over to let traffic through, people who don't move up at traffic lights so others can use slip lanes, people who deliberately prevent others from changing lanes to use freeway exits, people who weave in and out of traffic with total disregard for others, motorbikers who have total disregard for speed limits and who weave in and out of lanes of traffic, people who disregard solid lines when turning or merging, people who drink and drive or take drugs and drive, and people who disregard the laws - they're just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. There are more. But what peeves me the most is if I can obey the laws (whether or not I agree with them) and do my best to protect my life and the lives of other road users, why the hell can't everyone else? Why should my life - and the lives of people I love - be put at risk by morons who deliberately choose to ignore the laws?

Hervey bay is BAD for bad drivers! The older population don't know how to use a roundabout, and rarely indicate when leaving the roundabout... and people just don't realise that when turning left onto a road with two lanes, they MUST stay in the left-hand lane and then indicate their intention to move to the right-hand lane if there is one.

I would agree with consenses, mobile phone use definately, their minds are on their conversations, it is chargeable but so many do it.

Where do I start! Mobile phones is the obvious one. What's so important that it's worth putting other lives at risk. No indicators and what about the ones that put their foot down to make it through the orange light before it turns red. Grrr! I think apart from having red light cameras everywhere (and why are there signs advertising them?) I don't know.

Even though it's been legislated against for some time now, the inattention of drivers as they text or chat on their mobiles, hand to ear, really irks me. They are not concentrating and, driving one-handed is surely a recipe for disaster. Don't know what can be done but, gotta tell you I live in a rural zone with limits of 80kph and seeing someone texting while going at that speed is chilling. You can't possibly have control of you vehicle at that speed while you aren't concentrating fully.
