i moved into a unit two years ago,it is one of 20 units built on a block of land,it was classed as for low income pensioners with a disability.i was invalided from the army after 18years,i am now stricken with cancer,on the 25th of jan,this year i recieved a letter from my land lord that my rent of $284.80 per f/night has been increased to $400 a f/night,a rise of $113 a f/night,it is over half my pension gone.once the government needed me,now i am an invalid i am disposible.yet if i dont vote i get jailed!!!!!!!!

Get a hold of consumer affairs and see if they are allowed to do that. I'm pretty sure rent is only allowed to go up a certain amount once every 12 months. Maybe 10 or 15%. They were a big help when our landlord tried to put up our rent with no notice. I know they have to give you six weeks notice. Call and find out where you stand anyway.
