Something is eating the new shoots on my lime tree that I planted a couple of months ago. I have tried spraying with insect spray but it is not working. Worried it will die. HELP!

Hello
If your new shoots appear all curled up and have the look of burrowing on the underside of the leaf which look like little tracks then you have leaf miners. They are harmless to the tree in the long run but do make it look unhealthy. They come out mostly on fresh growth in the summer. When summer is done then prune the branches that have the distorted growth and after winter the new growth will flourish and should not be infested by miners as they only come out in summer. Do not be too alarmed as the tree will recover well. Look up leaf miner citrus on google and then click images ...if they look like what you see then you know what it is for certain. I have lots of citrus and it happens almost every summer and after a good prune the trees come back beautifully in spring. I don't use any sprays as they are usually not necessary but if you feel you must then use pest oil. Hope that helps you
