Being young you are able to try a range of sports and find which one you like as when you get to my age 51 the opportunities to play sport with the same age group are very limited.

you can start out by going to the gym, there are so many other sports you can access there like swimming, boxing and dance.

Dancing is a good way to get yourself out there. It is harder than people realise but you get to glam yourself up to exercise heavily and it is a good social activity.

There are loads of different sports you can try if you want. I think soccer and tennis are great sports to play and if you are an animal lover then you should try horse riding. Horse riding can be expensive sometimes but it is well worth it.

If you're looking to socialise and meet new people, you could try some kind of dance? I used to do jazz, but now I do salsa. It's really relaxed, fun, and you can meet heaps of new people.

Hi
I just learnt fishing this summer when I went with my neighbors family. It wasnt as boring as I initially thought it would be. And since it was at the beah, you can still enjoy other beach activities like swimming or just walking on the beach.

I would recommend you go along down to a uni sports day or something where you can usually try out different sports or talk to those who participate in them. There's also sometimes a "Have a go in sport" day or something to the like. WA definitely has one, but I'd be surprised if other states didn't hold some sort of sports festival.
Also if you work for some corporate organisations they promote corporate games, so you have a chance of playing soccer, touch, dragon boating, running, triathlon, netball, and many other sports. That way you can meet others from your company, and not everyone's elite.
Talk to friends and tag along to their sports, borrow their sticks, bats, balls etc and just have a muck around play to see if it feels like something you'd like to play. I would say sample as many sports as you want, although don't buy any gear until you've played for a lil time to be sure that its what you want to play, otherwise you have a lot of unused (and useless) gear lying around.
Good luck with finding a sport :)

If you like socializing and don't want a sport too hot & sweaty- I can recommend LAWN BOWLS. Bowling Clubs are falling over themselves to attract bowlers and even if you work- there is Twilight Bowls ( held at night time after work) or if you are retired then there is midweek bowls. They have really relaxed the dress rules and practically anything goes. Most bowlers want you to enjoy the game and everyone encourages each other. Try enquiring at your nearest Bowling Club.

Try different sports, you never know what kind of sports you like, or you could go back and start swimming again.
