It's only 11 days to the US presedential election. How much do you know about Obama and Romney? Do you care who wins? Do you think the outcome will affect us?

I have no interest in who might become the next President of the USA. It appears as though like it or not, we will be providing a temporary, or perhaps a permanent home for some of their War Machinery, regardless of who becomes President..
Does this mean that we are 'friends of convenience,' or do they really care? I wish I didn't feel that those two men above are probably laughing at people like me.

I leave US politics to US citizens. We should be interested in our own country and make our own course of action

I tend to try and steer as far clear as possible, when it comes to politics for obvious reasons. However I do love to have a good friendly heated debate.. So with that said . I would be lying if I said I knew a hell of a lot about either... I think Obama is doing just fine he handled the whole Osama Bin Laden mess swiftly & effectively... Always a good thing.. If he somehow now just managers to swing or even just start to push the current US debt defaecate towards the clear I think our Black president will continue to do good and serve his people well for quite some time yet... Of course in one way or another either outcome will affect us eventually in one form or another, it always does... One woud be a fool to think and expect any differently...

I know a fair amount. As someone who does not live in America, I do still care about who wins. Obama has more world-friendly policies and was responsible for stopping the war in Iraq, and has had a very peaceful term. It's important for the whole world that he stays in power.

As an Australian I don't have a vote. Obama seems to overcome some of the roadblocks put in his way to implement his policies, and I tend to agree with most of them. He seems interested in increasing political and trade ties with Australias Asian neighbours which may have some impact on our current regional balance. He also seems to be a leader for the people rather than big business, but the nature of politics and it's relationship with big business restrict his impact. I'd vote for him if I was American.
I don't know much about Romney, but the little I've seen doesn't impress. Maybe my view will alter as time progresses. America can do without another Big business puppet or a religious divide in my view, but it is a decision for the American people.
I care about the impact of America's leaders. The American people have been judged poorly by some as a result of decisions by leaders prior to Obama.

President Obama is a failed President. His agenda was fairly moderate and rational, but the Republican opposition was unwilling to co-operate in the national interest. The results of U.S. elections always have some impact on Australia. The policies of a right wing government in the U.S. will mesh more closely with those of Australia's Liberal party.

While in Australia, I do care about who will win the US election. The position of the US president effects the world. From media coverage and reports, I have learnt a great deal about both candidates, in particular Obama as he has lead for 4 years already. I think it important that a US president runs the full 2 terms, to maintain continuity and full-fill policies that enabled him to gain the presidency. Romney may be seemingly compassionate and a speaker, but I consider from my point in another country, that he is not in touch with the minority groups in the US, such as Latinos, African Ams., women, youth or gay people, to the same level as Obama.

I only know that what appears on my TV. on the news.
Both are going to wonderful candidates for President.
My preference is for Mr Obama but also whoever can do the job the best.
As America's ally I do not feel is will cause any unrest between having one nor the other as President.
It is wonderful having an ally who thinks and acts with the same beliefs for Freedom and Democracy as we do.

I prefer obama to win but he has changed his mind as is for gay marriage so I am now against him.
But who would have thought 50 years ago that America would have a black president!!! As it was a very prowhite country and black people were treated very badly. I think having a black president has further brought the black people in line or equal with the white people.

Obama: I don't know much about either, especially Romney but I do care who wins and seriously hope it will be Obama. I don't believe the outcome will affect me in any significant way.

romney should be elected, obama was elected due to the color of his skin being the first black president of america, no one supported him dude to him being capable of this role, all he has done is contributed to there terrible economy and debt,
The American economy is in desperate need of a turnaround artist. Mitt Romney has made his career in the private sector doing exactly that -- turning around failing business and enterprises.
vote romney

Yes I too hope and pray Obama wins again. He is a genuine guy with the good of all Americans at heart, and deserves another term to see all his plans through. It takes more than 4 years to sort out the Bush mess. How that lamebrain idiot ever got to be president still amazes me.

If Obama wins, I think Australia will be much safer and America will have a better chance to get back on the right foot.
If Romney wins, we will see another Bush like administration as Romney will gather George`s cronies.

America needs to be patient and not expect Obama to have fixed 'all' the mess created by George and his Daddy in one short term.

I think Romney is just another filthy rich business tycoon that has strange religious beliefs.

Yes I do follow closely and yes I do care who wins. Mitt Romney is a pragmatist who would under different circumstances make a reasonable president but doubtful he would have the strength to withstand the Neanderthals (aka Tea Party extremists) who dominate the Republican Party. Would be akin to Tony Abbott winning an election here in Australia but having to govern in line with directives of the right wing coalition wackos (Bernardi, Mirabella, Ferranti-Wells, etc) and Allan Jones and his redneck supporters. A disaster.
Barack Obama is an intelligent and sophisticated politician who has done much to restore sanity after 8 wasted Bush years. Heaven help us if he loses this election.

Forgive me Pertina for being so ignorant, I do not follow the American politics very closely because I am so very scared who will run this so very important country. I was told that Obama cannot be President again, and hear I read that he can. What are these other jokers doing on TV then, and why are all those idiots praising those other jokers that want to be President. Americans should just save time and money and leave Obama in the White House, if not, he should come to Australia and get us back on track.

I totally agree Obama to win as far as I am concerned, he is doing a good job in particular tough times & he has not been in long enough for his dreams & ideas to come to fruition.
