now the war in syria is full on.civilians being buried in mass in long trenches, narrow graves.do you think some other country should interfere with this war to save thousands of people.or let them fight it out by themselves

if the conspiracy of a proxy war is true, i guess both sides are just waiting to see who would intervene first to be accused of meddling.

if the un can provide sanctions.they should have got off there arse years ago.i do not have a resolution for this war.i am sure it can be stopped by other nations, but they should act quickly,like...

yes david, something seems eventually to be happening. The USA is talking about intervention. I guess they are considering the cost in $s. The US economy is still not that good. Congress has to ok the spending for that I guess.
I do not like foreign powers taking it into their hands, but It's a case of what other options are there?

Yes david, there is no such thing as "good war'' in my opinion. Nothing justifies violence and torture. Two wrongs do not make a right.
What bothers me about the United Nations is that they...

What bothers me about the United Nations is that they can impose sanctions, but that takes a long time to have an effect, if it does eventually do anything.

I too am of the opinion that we should not fight other peoples battles, but since the news that chemical warfare is being carried out, and used on civilians, the situation is becoming an issue of international law.
The United Nations have outlawed chemical weapons, and if it is to mean anything...have any authority at all, some action is necessary.
I don' t have an answer, I just hope it all resolves itself soon.

simlaam in agreeance with all you say,the un can have a sit down in grand deluxe hotels everything supplied, but i cannot see how they can stop syria fighting.to have peace is to want peace.do either side want this, civillian killings and torture is obtrcious, these people are dieing and being tortured for no apparent reason.they really should try to settle with peace tals.

to me bad peace is better than a good war?????????????

I agree with you david,I think it`s time for the human race to start concentrating on
sorting out the problems in our own back yard. There are so many, the pollies don`t know where to start .If nothing is done, then there will be another civil war in our own back yard.

I agree with you, so many innocent lives lost over conflicts! Our own back yard certainly needs sorting out, total mess.

That is exactly the response of Australians after Kristallnacht, when Jewish refugees begged to be allowed to flee Germany for safety. It was the same response during the Rwanda massacre, and during the massacres of the Serbian-Croatian conflict.

Let's look at our own backyards. Mine is green, with a nice garden and a big fence. It does need a bit of weeding, though. That said - I wouldn't hear a domestic violence dispute and then start the weeding. I'd intervene, by either calling the police, sheltering the victim(yes at my own risk) or just getting my partner to chat to the perp so we can distract them and let the victim flee. Some things, even those beyond our fence require intervention. Ignoring it is just a sign of poor humanity.

a great reply, you do not have to be smart or a politician to have feelings.i think if another country such as usa or australia.will not fix the situation but probably make it worsepeople must try to get along worldwide.making our earth a place where all people worldwide try to live in harmony

I don't have any answer to this post, all I can say is how horrified I am about the situation in Syria, its beyond my comprehension. I think I am a caring person, maybe its why I've had to shut off, the images on tv are unreal, if ever there was an example of "mans inhumanity to man" this is it. Would Syria want interference from other countries, would it make it better or would it overall make it worse, I dont know as I'm not a politician or highly educated! I just don't know!

shutting or turning off the images on tv is really not going to change the situation.like it or not we do have to face facts no matter what our feelings
