I have nine cats a varioty of differant colours and breeds. Dont get me wrong cat food does take a good chunk of money out of the weekly groccery money especailly with how hard times are getting lately, money wise but its soo worth it! Each and everyone has such a unique attatude and a personality bigger then the moon. I wouldnt settle for any other animal, there just not as good and i would never live in a house with out my bauetiful cats.. My only problem is like i said earlyer the cost to feed them, does anyone know a catfood brand or type thats not too dear but is still yummy and good for the cats? I wont settle for them to eat crap food no matter the cost!

Hi diaooraa, we all love our pussies. I used to breed Siamese. They were not big cats, and didn't eat that much. still, it does cost a lot. I fed a lot of boiled eggs, as I kept chooks, with an abundance of eggs. the addition of evaporated milk (not fresh milk) helps with calcium and flavour for the boiled brown rice. Mix in minced chicken necks to get them to eat it, raw is best. Penta-vite baby vitamin drops occasionally will keep them healthy. Occasionally cats get addicted to commercial dry food, with resulting kidney/ bladder. damage. fresh is best.If raw egg is fed regularly, because the white of egg contains albumin, which destroys biotin, a B vitamin, it's best to throw away the white. A yolk a day has potent food value. Whole egg, raw, is ok if fed say once a week. Egg farms sell cracked eggs cheaply. May need cooking to be safe to feed. Hope some of these tips may help.

I have 3.5 cats (the O.5 is a local stray / community cat who seems to come to me for food). They all came over the fence at various times from I know not where. I cannot really afford to feed them but give them a cycle of Kit-E-Kat, Whiskas, home brand tinned meat and mix in a little cooked rice to pad everything out. I also give them dry cat food with the meat & rice. Two of the cats don't really like dry food and either leave it or spit it out!!
I have been looking at the availability and price of fresh chicken and lamb's liver to see if I can offset the cost that way.
Problem is that if you try cheaper tinned food they will not eat it (apart from the 0.5 one) so you are wasting money. If you buy casserole type food they tend to lap up the gravy and leave the meat..
Logic tells me that if they were REALLY hungry they would do what the 0.5 cat does and eat anything, so you have to grit your teeth and keep to cheaper versions. Aldi sells reasonably cheap, tinned cat food but I have been warned that their dry biscuits are bad for cats.
Not sure this helps but the cooked rice might just help stretch the food further.

Hi, my cat also eats normal tuna every now and then but also lives off the whiskas brand food wet and dry. I have been told that the juices from our tuna we eat is good for the skin also on dogs to. A bit of the juice on their dry biscuits and they are good to go, my cat is also fussy so I have to keep an eye on what he likes and doesn't because if we try him on something different he will leave it in the bowl then bring home a mouse later. But I am sure if you try your cats on a cheaper meal it won't taste any different as if we were eat home brand meals from the shops in comparison to a branded name, really depends on what they like. Guess.

I feed my one and only cat on Home brand tuna in brine. I find cat food is smelly and expensive. My cat lives in our apartment so it is important to feed her on food that prevents her litter tray from smelling. (she has a loo with a view on the balconcy! The tuna is for human consumption so is far better quality than cat food tuna. She also gets off cuts from steak and chicken wing tips are a special favourite. A small amount of "crunchies" are breakfast and ofcourse water is available all the time.

Hi if my cat were any healthier I don't know what! She gets plenty of nutritien and in fact our vet tells me she is one very healthy and happy cat. The nibbles she gets has all the additives she needs. Seriously she is fine, her teeth are clean she munches on chick wing bones and loves a bit of raw fish. She lives a very good life. She even has a planter pot growing the grass she likes to eat.

but is your cat getting all the nutrient they are supposed to have which is included in cat food tins and biscuits.desexed cats need more water than whole cats
diaooraa
Wouldnt that be abit rich for there stumachs though? Iv heard when it comes to "rich" foods as such it can be bad on a cats stumach.

i buy a block of frozen pilchards from local bait and tackle shop, cats love them and good for hairballs
diaooraa
Oh okay, thanks i will try giving them that every now and then
sharleen

diaooraa
