I have heard recently that the NSW State government has given money I think 17 million dollars for cancer research the only good thing they have done!

Hi, I have to ask what exactly do you mean "Everyone should donate" ?
What you wanting people do , donate to only Cancer. Please believe me I totally see the need to donate to Cancer but you cannot just donate to Cancer. There are so many really dreadful illnesses & diseases out there You cannot just donate to one & ignore the others.
I have lost family members to Cancer. I actually attend a Clinic every 3/4 weeks to have an infusion to help me not catch illnesses because my Immune System needs great help. There are people there with other kinds of Cancer, they need help. There are people who have other dreadful deadly sickness they need help also.
All the systems around us need help, Flying Doctor, Care Flight, Make a Wish, SES. I can go n and on.
Sometimes I feel it would be better if we did not donate higgley piggley but give a certain percentage to a couple of large organisations that use the money to cover in a more organised way.
Do you ever think there are too many separate little groups all with people organising.? All these people in offices, duplication over & over. Would the money go further if there were less office people?
Please I am not trying to start a war, or argument, these are thoughts that go through my mind every time the telephone rings or we receive another letter asking for support or money.

Regards
Frilly

I agree. My work allowed each of us to take one day off a year to be involved in a charity of our choice. Our team chose the Cancer Council and about 20 of us went there to help with their mail- outs. Very good cause and a very nice group of people working at the Brisbane office.

I cannot believe how amazing the Cancer Council are as an organisation. My mum recently went through treatment for endometrial cancer and was really struggling. The different forms of support available to her through the cancer council blew us away and not only helped her but also made it so much easier for me to support her without burning out. Thank you to everyone involved including those that donate. They are amazing and I will never let a chance to donate or fundraiser again. It truly is vital.

The Cancer Council is a very worthy charity to donate to. With many members of my family who passed away after suffering with this horrible disease, there needs to be found a cure or a cause of this disease.

If it wasn't for the support of the Cancer Council, we would have struggled thru the last 3 yrs while my son was getting treated for Retinoblastoma, to which he lost an eye at 4 yrs old. He is now cancer free and aged 7.

My family, & I donate to cancer council a lot. Due to my grandfather being diagnosed with cancer for a 5th time he is now terminal and won't be making it to Christmas this year.
Cancer is such a horrible and unforgivable disease, it destroys people's lives and sometimes can tear families apart I for one would never in my lifetime wish cancer upon another human being. It's honestly heartbreaking !

My family and I donate to most cancer councils as cancer has struck in our family several times.
Every year, my family and I host the pink ribbon breakfast at our house and with all our family and friends donating and being involved.

We participate in the fun runs and donate money at every chance we have.
My grandma and mother both fought and survived breast cancer, with my mother recently having a double mastectomy.

I believe some people don't believe in donating to charities because they assume their money is being wasted and not going towards any research. It is- if it's not going towards researcg, it is going towards new and improved technology, training to doctors and nurses who help keep cancer patients alive.

I help the Cancer by doing the Relay For Life.
Last year was my first year and i managed to walk over 40kms in just 12 1/2 hours (This was only about 9 weeks after i pinched a nerve in my back and had 6 weks of physio).
This year i am doing the Relay For Life again, I'm actually the captain of the team this year. I unfortunately ended up with sciatica last week (which still has me debridden), but will be starting physio next week and hope to start training for the relay which is happening in May this year.
I have also had family and friends affected by cancer.

I am a breast cancer survivor being diagnosed in 2010. I had a lump for a while but believed it was a cyst. When diagnosed I opted for a mastectomy and lymph node removal. I was fortunate in as much as the cancer hadn't travelled through my body so I did not have to have chemo or radiotherapy, but am on medication for 5 years.
I am a Community Liaison for Breast Cancer Network Australia (our logo is the Pink Lady) and work within media, fundraising and community awareness. Money raise through our merchandise sales and corporate funding goes to providing information and support free of charge to all women and men and their families who are affected by Breast Cancer.

I always donate to the Cancer Council even before my Husband was diagnosed with Lymphomea and my 17 yr old daughter with thyroid cancer. They are a fantastic organisastion. So very helpful. I even buy all our sunscreen, hats and sunglasses from their Cancer Council Shops. Apart from them I also donate to the Salvation Army.

I too buy their sunscreen - via a Chemist - to save the cancer council staff the time having to pack a small order. I am not near one of their shops. That time can be used to assist those who need help.
