Is the world telling us to get off?

Look what's happening these days, global warming, quakes, tsunamies, volcanic eruptions, are we about to become extinct? It has been proven that the world has been working in cycles and global warming is not a new thing so what caused it millions of years ago?

with you Petrolhead
global warming is happening, but it is a natural event. we just happen to be living through a part of the cycle that can be noticed on a yearly basis. as for being caused by humans; the only human intervention is from those making money from it and promoting false reasons.

Wasn't it said somewhere that basically we are too smart & greedy & will exterminate ourselves. Serves us right I guess

No, I'm inclined to say it isn't telling us to get off. Humans, like all other life-forms on this small planet have been developed by Earth, by nature.

Evolution, selective breeding, adaptations have created the life on Earth, to react with Earth. I'm educated in this area, so I have quite a bit of background knowledge on this subject. Humans do not possess the technology to cause earthquakes, tsunamies or volcanic eruptions in a conventional manner (ie, not much aside from a nuclear weapon can cause these, solely credited to humans). The only way we'll become extinct anytime soon is by doing it to ourselves in the name of "survival of the fittest" (conquest, war), or some catastrophic space event. Life on the planet has already survived global glaciation, nuclear warfare, and space-events. We are survivors.

The cause of global warming, to climatologists and other alike researchers is often credited to natural cycles in the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. We currently inhabit a period of time called an interglacial cycle, meaning we are in the warm period between iceages (occurring every 12000 years, with an additional 150 000 year cycle). The cause of it these cycles are quite complex, but they rely on very sensitive geological functions and spatial functions. 1998 was our warmest year ever, since then it's been cooling steadily, and inclement weather has been increasing. So no, global warming is nothing new.

Now you know why it's such an argumentative subject between academics and governments.

Hi Tyler95, agreed that nuclear warfare could be a worry. I hear North Korea is planning another underground nuclear test around the end of the year.
War is the thing we have not got much control over, as individuals.
My reading on Nano Robots, to be used as, or instead of the current weapons, gives me the creeps. So small are these microscopic computer controlled machines, (all programmed to destroy) that a big one can fit on a piece of dust. They are also said to be programed to reproduce themselves.
Just imagine if one happened to get loose and reproduce, (if it was programed to destroy). It's been called 'the grey goo' as it would look like a mass of dust moving along.
No doubt there will be a new disaster/ 'End of The World ' movie soon.

Everyone should see the doco 'Home' it shows how we have changed the earth so much by human use and consumption. New threats like fracking for gas will contribute to more earthquakes and interference to the stability of the planet. We need to use what nature already gave us to use that is wind and solar energy.

I agree wind and solar is the way to go!
Nature has given it to us for free so now we have the technology why not use it?

yes, how many people out there really know what fracking does?As if 'fracturing' the earth's crust and shoving the tectonic plates around, would not do some terrible thing to the Planet Earth?

I believe war has caused global warning. Life on planet Earth would be the same if bombs weren't exploding. Let nature be as it is supposed to be without war!!

By our excessive greed we have increased the rate of climate change. Global warming is a misnaming of the effect. We need the greenhouse effect to keep us warm, otherwise earth would be freezing. However years of excessive greenhouse gases, cars and other contributors have caused a massive almost exponential increase in the effect on our environment. That is why we are having 1 in 100 year floods every year or even bi-yearly in Australia, tornadoes for the first time and twice having temps of 40C+ in Sydney city typical of a Dubai spring! This is not natural climate change, we have done this. I think we have already gone past the tipping point. For decades the scientists including NASA have been monitoring the Carbon dioxide levels in the North and South poles and finding huge increases in the levels directly attributable to massive global industrialisation 1950+. There are actual graphs to prove this. Also surely you don't think the events of New York's floods were that dissimilar to the Day After Tomorrow. We are not doing enough about climate change and yet Australia is already facing the brunt of it more than the rest of the world. The facts stare us in the face and yet unlike Europe and Asia we ignore at our peril...and talking of food prices and the economy...failing to heed our environment by building on sensitive water tables, no building flood-prevention systems, not being prepared for hotter summers in our capital cities and ensuring public transport works (The rail system broke down in the morning and afternoon peak times!)..that is why we need a climate preparedness levy NOT a poorly named misunderstood Carbon tax...

I think its time for the nature to respond on it's own ways.

I believe it is a naturally occurring thing, Our planet is under constant changes.
I do believe that we still need to take care of our planet and manage our land and resources as best we can.

global warming is a natural part of the cycle of a planet with an atmosphere. the difference with humans is that we have the ability to keep and peruse records.
as for the planet "fighting back", we are no more than parasites on the surface; the planet will do as nature intends it to do, regardless of what we know or try to do

obviously not because its the cause of humans who do that not the world itself.

The world is constantly evolving and so is life on earth.
Everything in nature seeks to find equilibrium.

Like a ripples caused in a bucket by a water drop, they will slowly dissapear until still water returns.

hi Petrolhead, i hope we will be able to fix all the excellerting rate of global warning ,whether we will win is yet to be seen. going by what certain eminent physicists think ,i'm very interested in the possible escape-route to the Goldielocks Plannets ....Kepler 22b or maybe Gleise 581g ? look good as i see it , these scientists know more than the average man in the street, and they are deadly serious about the need to look for an alternate world to live on. we must cover all eventualities and think of the world in say the year 2050. by then at present rate world population will be 9 billion. i think the question of what caused global warming millions of years ago is one still being debated by people like michio kaku and stephen hawkins. personally i'd guess it may have something to do with movement within the earths magnetic field. especially the magma under the earths crust and the rotating metalic core, causing the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. cheers, Simla

yes petrolhead, another nail on our coffin. i'd say that the nuclear tests would have the effect of 'rocking the boat'. another concern i have is the effect of the HAARP experimental radio...

They have proven that these high powered radio waves do cause cancer so what about the environment?

What you have to remember is the Earth's core has a liquified center now imagine dropping a stone in a pond you can see a ripple effect, what has all these underground nuclear tests done?

yes petrolhead, another nail on our coffin. i'd say that the nuclear tests would have the effect of 'rocking the boat'. another concern i have is the effect of the HAARP experimental radio station up at the north pole, sending high powered radio waves up into space, there by affecting the jet- stream. that, say some, has changed our weather pattern. does anybody know if high powered radio waves have the power to lift the ionisphere? then drop it again when the power in turned off suddenly?

Off our backsides but that's about it. There are so many people not believing in global warning but it is here and we all should face it by caring for our planet in any and every which way possible.

Nefertari I totally agree with you. Nature and the environment is a finely tuned ecosystem. We have tipped the balance way too far and not buying plastic bags and going along to tree planting days has been stated by real scientists as having no effect now...we have simply overpolluted, reaped this planet way too much ...we are now seeing it in all its fury...exceptional 1 in 100 year floods several times a year every year. That is why we now have tornadoes and water spouts in NSW and VIC and we never had them before. Last year Sydney had its coldest winter in 40 years with temps now rivalling Vic or even warmer parts of the UK in winter. We often get temps down to 4C overnight in winter now. I live in the Inner West and it used to get as low as 9C overnight. Last summer was the worse we had in Sydney in 5 years yet we had two days of 41C. It all makes sense if you do some research on the Internet instead of just taking in what the filtered tv, radio and print media tell you...

Petrolhead, the World is devolving, no question about it. Just look at the increase in diseases we've never seen or heard of before, the amount of children with allergies and other problems, some of them life-threatening.

Increases in earthquakes and other natural disasters... the global economy is not the happiest its ever been.

Only a matter of time, Mate.

I'm very grateful that I have found numerous proofs for Jesus actually being Who He said He is. I know my future is secure, despite my worst efforts! lol

I agree with you mate. There has been a lot of talk about voices from the heavens too, a kind of groaning heard the past 2-3 years globally and recorded on You Tube. Do a search. Then think of the daily occurrence of multiple earth quakes of over 3.0 often 5-6. The media is so preoccupied with which celeb star is divorcing or in town they don't present this real news like they used to..people seem so preoccupied too..almost like they have stopped being so human...our desire to work to earn more and more money and work like machines when ironically computers and technology was supposed to bring some freedom from excessive labour...its enslaved us..and we are all so caught up ...and I am not going to be two-faced. In this fast paced train we all ride now I too take time out and loose myself from time to time in consumer gadgetry..its just what people do nowadays..to escape what for many has become a monocultural reality..where everyone tries to look, behave and talk the same,...a global Hollywood media saturated culture. As for the environment is says somewhere in the Bible that mankind will make the earth's waters toxic...think of the red seas experienced here in Bondi and other Sydney beaches plus overseas...

I think it is mother nature fighting back. Get a hold of a dvd called 'Home' which is an amazing documentary showing what humans have done to the earth. But remember we only hear about the bad things in the news, there is actually a lot of great things people are doing to combat all of this destruction, its just that Australia is a bit behind in these changes but we are slowly catching up.
