I have only one comment to make; how can they live with each other? Friday,Saturday,Sunday and even Monday Labor viciously attacked each other. Suddenly at 11:30 am after the vote was taken they are all lovey dovey and full of hugs, kisses and praise for each other! pull the other one. Either the whole show before was a stunt or nothing has changed and it will all be on again in a few month. I predict a new leader of the ALP before the next election in 2013.

The media keeps saying that the public has the right to be informed! Informed, yes, but what about the truth? Caucus voted behind closed doors. The election officer is the one who announces the result of the vote. Why then did the media report 73 to 29 - before the election officer - which was totally inaccurate. There is far too much uninformed media commentary - let's have a blackout of all political issues, including those wretched polls for 48 hours. Give the politicians a break

Hi Trushka. On of the interesting angles to this challenge was that the media certainly knew more than was shared with the public; the media certainly could identify their sources for the leaks and insights that filled the column inches
post-Kevin07. Barrie Cassidy, for one, spilled the beans over the open secret as to the responsible parties behind the ALP destabilization. This open secret would not otherwise have been shared with the electorate.

I think the the behaviour of everyone involved was disgusting. 6 year olds argue with more decorum. Having said that I think the media has a lot to answer for because they flogged the whole issue. If not for the media, I doubt things would have escalated to the extent that it did. If the media is going to report such issues they should do so with honesty. instead they were provikative, made statements that were not true and gave hypothetical statements implying that a range of things had been said when they hadn't. This led to very reactive responses that soon changed the provokative statements to reality. On the other hand pollies should know not to react to such personal insults, hypothetical or not.
