Got a pet Galah called Rocky. Not even a year old. Only my daughter can touch and cuddle him. I tried hard to get it's trust but it just flys away every time I get near him.

Woodie is right, it depends who riased the bird. I gave my husband a galah many years ago for a present but the bird would have nothing to do with him only me. It was raised by a woman and it only liked women for some reason. Maybe your bird only likes children; ask your local pet shop as they maybe able to advise you. So, I was an Indian giver but had such enjoyment from a lovable bird. Trouble was a beautiful smart bird, who picked the lock on her cage and I had to put a double lock on it. She would cry at night if I did not say good night to her. Sadly I came home one day and discovered she had died and I don't know why. I now have a lovely mischievous cockatiel who is a chatter box and great company. I love birds and I am nicknamed the bird lady.

Yeah, I think it just depends on the bird. My Mum and Dad have one and he loves Dad and I but it's taken Mum over a year of persisting through his moody attacks lol. Now he's fantastic and never bites her. Just keep trying and when it does come around make sure the novelty doesn't wear off or you'll be back to square one.

This is unreall ,my daughter had a Galah called Rocky when she was little ,she was the only one that could get into the cage to feed him ,when she bent down he used to sit on her head and just tickle her with his teeth on her head ,never hurt her ,she was the only one thet could get him to come up to the front of the cage and scratch his head ,if any one else tried to do any thing he would bite them and really screach out loud,he was her pet for years ,and she loved him ,but he died of old age ,my daughter even though she had grown up by then cried her eyes out.,and even now said she still misses that Galah.

That's strange because normally Galahs are very sociable birds and it is the Cockatoos that will be attached to one person and nobody else. It can often have a lot to do with who raised them as well and if they have been abused by someone in the past. We had one for years and he loved everyone. Other people I know who had them had the same experience as us. All you can do is persevere and keep talking to him and eventually he should get used to you being around.

I have the same problem with my Galah it only likes men and wants nothing to do with me and my daughter, I have gained its trust by feeding it rice and bread that no one else give it but it just uses me to get out the cage so that it can go to my son's and another problem is we have had this Galah for 3 years and it still wont speak.
