Muslims are demanding interest free loans-Why should this even be considered and why should any consideration be given to incorporating sharia law into our system? Will the next step be that we are all expected to come under sharia law? If anyone wants to live in Australia they should be prepared to abide by Australian law.

This one really does'nt even shock me now, they really are just to arrogant to think that they will get this. I guess they will pull out the old -It's my religion bull crap- That seems to work quiet well for them...They did it for me when they had special burgers made for them with NO BACON. Not like us meer Aussies that have to ask for a burger with no pickles. Guess I'm not that special.... I'm just from Australia.

If they can or able to do that for muslims then they should be able to do it for the average australians that struggle with everyday life, what makes them so different? they cant just expect to change a country, if we were in their country we would have to abide by their law and beliefs so why cant they abide by ours and stop importing their churches and religion, you may have destroyed your own country but ours wont follow in your footsteps.

good point man but remember that even our current laws are based on what used to be a christian dominanted society. I understand though this concept is rather similar to that of muslim women wanting to wear full body burques (sorry about spelling) in French ID photos

I hadn't heard about that either (not in mainstream Australian society anyway) - I did know that there is provision for this within the Muslim faith,- works in the same way that we might lend money to a relative...But Muslims aren't the only ones to do something similar- I know of several churches that have taken out interest free loans and the Jewish system has provision for a year of Jubilee where all debts are forgiven, slaves freed and land returned

So I don't think that there is anything strange or unusual in interest free loans, - but that is a far cry from it being a part of the mainstream Australian landscape. Can't see it happening myself.

This ties in perfectly to my thread re Urban Myths.

888shelly - well said. I work for one of the Big 4 and rest assured, there are no interest free loans for Muslims nor for anyone else for that matter. People wake up and don't give into these urban myths you hear designed to create hatred.

Can I suggest that you all check out the Arab bank.....and see how it is done. No I am not a muslim but someone who has done a bit of research. It is a bit more humanitarian than most of our 'normal' banks and might surprise you

The Sharia way is to kill the non-believer especialy the Christian so why are they tollerated in Australia. As for interest free loans I can't get one so why the hell should they.

I agree. It feels like Australia is losing it's identity, and Muslims have no right to demand anything, you would think they would be more grateful for being allowed to live in this country.

Why are you assuming that being Muslim and being Australian are mutually exclusive? It is entirely possible to be a Muslim Australian!

My family and I have always said that charity begins at home. I agree with the statement above, in that they have asked to come here and live in Australia, so they should have to pay interest like everybody else. If we give them interest free loans, then all the other cultures will want the same sort of compensation as well. Why can't Australians get interest free loans? There are so many of us struggling out there and yet the government looks after minority groups and not their own. I think that the budget should be written by housewives who have to budget weekly and make a small amount of money go a long way.

I couldn't agree more. I am an immigrant myself but nobody forced me to come to Australia, I chose to be here. Therefore, if you liked it so much to leave your own country, then don't come here and try to change it. The outsider is you and it's up to you to adapt and respect your new home.

Sorry , I have not heard of that, but I will add my opinion to this and say it is absolutly WRONG, it should not even be considered, this whole thing disgusts me and my family. To incorperate sharia law into our system, I think I will stand up and fight, we are AUSTRALIA, we have laws, they should be happy they are here, WHY BRING THEIR PROBLEMS WITH THEM, leave it behind and start afresh in a new country
