I don't understand how if you miss the toilet you don't feel the need to clean it up? I always seem to find so much toilet paper on the floors & hair in the wash basin gross, pick it up & throw it in the rubbish!! I see slit of women not washing their hands or doing the quick rinse with water only NO soap!! Yuck!!

Even a 2.5 year old will let me put soap on his hands, in fact he tried to grab it a few days ago. He heads straight to the bathroom after using the toilet. He doesn't need a reminder any more.

I try and avoid using a public toilet everything about them is awkward and unhygienic. Its awkward waiting in the line with people looking at you, you are looking at the other people in the line all knowing that your there to do secret business, then when you are in the toilet I dont know about the rest of you but I know myself and plenty others are squatting in the air trying their hardest not to touch the toilet seat, in doing this your often making such a noise for the rest of the ladies to hear then it comes to the toilet paper, is there any paper is there not can you get the paper and if you can can you get as much as you want or are spending 5 minutes getting sheet by sheet. Then you have to get more paper to flush the toilet. then you walk out to more people staring straight at you and your thinking, it was the person before me who left the smell and 99% of the time it really was. When your at the sink you hope that there is some form of soap still available and when theres not you think why didnt i check the soap before I went to the toilet and where in my bag amongst all my clutter is my hand sanitizer. Then finally when you leave you have to open a door that has god only knows what germs on it YUK YUK YUK I dont like public toilets and try and avoid them at all measures, when your pregnant it can prove somewhat difficult but lol

There are usually not enough toilets, thus queues and smells. Biggest hygiene problem as I see it is that many people and their children do not wash their hands.

I haven't had too many problems using Ladies public toilets in shopping centre's, but I must admit, that I do try to avoid using them.A few times I have found them to be unclean and smell, but I feel the staff at shopping centre's in particular try to maintain them

I agree with you re the heavy door. There is one automatic push button on and other like to have to use at the shopping centre I go too. I know I shouldn't use it, but I have a balance problem when it comes to getting up. Also it is impossible for me to get my pull-along trolley intop some public toilets as the cubicles are too small. Also I am epileptic which I am lucky is controlled by medication unless I get a cold or virus. Fortunately I haven't had one whilst out shopping as I lose consciousness for a couple of minutes - the floors are hard!!! I have injured myself a couple of times - worst was a broke my nose. Blood tests at hospital showed I had a cold or virus -- I wasn't aware of that - I just had a headache - luckily I was home. 99% of time it is always in the toilet too. Our door opens outwards for that reason.

I always use my own toilet at the last minute when I am going shopping. But I catch the bus and usually visit several shops doing a lot of shopping in a few hours, so I usually get desperate enough to have to use public toilets, especiallly in the warm weather when I need to drink more water. In one way I am fortunate that the ones I use are in a large shopping mall and the cleaners continually go around checking and cleaning them. One more than one occasion I have had to go to another toilet area because where I went was being cleaned.

Hi Blossom I can go to the toilet just on leaving home and am driven to shopping centre usually find them in good condition like you they are cleaned very often. I was disgusted on one...

The majority if the shopping centres in SA have electric sliding doors on them. Several older ones were modified. I would complain to the Shopping Centre Management and if nothing happens, in some states there are organizations that are advocates for the disabled. Maybe there the is a Govt, Dept you could approach, or even contact your Member of Parlaiment, or the one for that area.. Some are very influential

If you visit the same shopping centres you get to know which have the cleanest toilets.
I always do as you do go before I go out.
I have always found also they are being cleaned every hour or so in Westfield shopping centres.
Sometimes I have found they are cleaned by male cleaners in other centres and it does make you feel a bit uncomfortable.

I filthy baby nappy had been left open on the floor. I am disabled so I have to use those toilet, I just could not believe it was left there when there was a special receptacle for them.
I almost did the unforgivable and used paper to pick it up until hubby who has to comein with me made me see sense. I always laugh at the "disabled" toilet in my shopping mall, I cannot push the door open the spring is too strong. Then when I am in I cannot get out on my own as I am on an electric scooter & therefor sit too far to even reach the door handle.
We have reported it and it was supposed to be changed in the renovations. Do not think the money reached that problem LOL.
Cheers

I agree with you totally but what happens when you just "have to go" are you then supposed to "go" in the street? I cannot expect people to allow me to go into their houses. Cafes don't always have a toilet, I am not as young as I was but even youngsters have their problems. I have a granddaughter that has to be always aware of where the toilets are she has a medical problem.
Most of the Public Toilets in places such as "Stops on Main Highways" are cleaned every day.
It is the disgusting WOMEN who use the toilets and leave them in this state NOT men. How can women do all those things? There are receptacles for dirty nappies etc and they leave them on the floor. It is really hard to understand. Complain it is the only weapon you have and just maybe they will be caught
Cheers

I don't whether it is state or federal law, but if you serve food you are obliged to have a public toilet within the cafe or in a shopping centre if that applies. Toilets at most service station/food outlets/cafes are cleaned regularly. If you find one that needs cleaning, advise the staff and they will clean it asap. A relative of mine reported one once and it was re-cleaned within 5 minutes. It was one particular toilet in a row of them.

well i must say NEVER use a public toilet because they have graffiti all ova the doors and walls aswell as filthy with urine and feces still left in the toilet bowl or on the floors. The toilets also get used for sexual favors which is also disgusting, im sure u can germs and deseases by using these toilets im not saying every public toilet is like this but most of them are. There should be cleaners for these every day.

I agree with you about the smell you cannot even guarantee that shopping Mall toilets will always been clean.
I am disabled and the number of times I have gone in, people have been smoking, mothers have left filthy nappies on the floor. There has even been a special container but still left on the floor. How can women be so bad or so dirty to do this? It is fine they say let the management know but you have to go such a long distance generally to do so.
Surely it is not too much to ask them to clean after themselves, they have to do it at home or do they live like this? There is certainly a question left in your mind about how the other half live?
