our governments use to be against dictators/communist countrys and protect our rights to make our own decisions.now they are starting to turn our counrty into a dictatorship/communist run country by taking our rights and priveleges away from us.
couple of examples is how they are going to lower the alcohol percent but only after the rugby world cup, and how they are banning smoking from parks, pubs clubs when you use to have a choice of going in to the bar where they smoked or sit next door where they didn't, know they are banning smoking in prisons .
we are slowly losing our rights and privileges if we dont make a stand we will lose our freedom of speech as well.

Sorry, but I really disagree with most of what you say. There's no way that our country can be described as anything like a dictatorship, or a Communist country. I'm old enough to remember a dreadful world war being fought because of a terrible dictator was behaving so terribly. Many millions of lives were lost, and afterwards I have bad memories of the turmoil of the Communist world. In fact the man I eventually married ran away from a communist country because he disagreed so much. Our government is nothing like either of these. We have absolute freedom of speech (I recommend you sometimes watch Question Time of Parliament on the ABC) to discover how free the speech sometimes gets.) As for the alcohol percentage being lower -- is this really so bad? In fact this has to be a good idea surely. Just think about how many people are spending huge amounts of money on alcohol. A lot of these people are kids. Not long ago a kid of not much more than 10 was picked up totally drunk wandering around in an area near where I live. With regard to smoking--I think it is mad to ban smoking from parks where you can avoid smokers. Also I'd like to see them not ban smoking from pubs and clubs where it's possible for non-smokers to avoid sitting too close to smokers. It's very strange that they are considering banning smoking in prisons. Surely it would be possible to put all smokers in one area of the prison, and the non-smokers in another. Still, we really aren't losing our rights and privileges. Things are changing, that's all, and some of the changes are OK as far as I can see. There's no way that we will lose our freedom of speech. There is no sign of this at all. That's one of the best things about our country, and one of the things I'm very grateful for. Wonder what you think about the idea being put forward that all cigarette packets will be looking the same.

I cannot Agree or Disagree with all your comments. You all have mentioned what is your mind and expectation, and that is your Right. Various things are happening in this world as there is Power competitions in every country in different ways i.e. VOTING, MISUSE OF POSITION,PLEASURE,and Finally to attain the Name "I AM THE LEADER OF THE WHOLE WORLD, that is a challenge to God Almighty - I would advice you all to THINK BEFORE YOU LEAP

The things that are happening such as, taking our rights away and telling us what we can and cant do are suggestive of a communist or socialst rule developing in our Country. We are heading for a one world governement & these things are indicators of that end.

We are a lot of 'whingers', We have one of the best voting systems in the world. How many people have bothered to find or learn how our voting system works?. Most people are lazy and vote one...

Our Government is, as far as I can see doing quite a good job under the present circumstances. I like the mix of politicians. The independents who are at this time in the parliament make things extremely interesting. By the way, my belief is that all people who actually are interested in politics do not vote 1 above the line. Perhaps it is as well that the disinterested do that. People can get up and say what they want. They can visit, write or email to their local politicians, both state and federal, and give them have their opinion. The politicians actually want to hear from their constituents. If possible either watch Parliament when it is sitting, or listen to the radio to hear who is saying what. The chances are good that you gain a lot of information. Besides which, it's fascinating to see them in action. While I think that the IMF has great influence in the world, I certainly cannot for the life of me see them as being a world government. Surely you are being just a bit too cynical.

Sorry to disagree with you regarding the voting system pete....Remember when Kevin 07 was ousted as PM and Juliar the stabber took his place, where was the vote of the people who put Kevin as...

Sorry Ash, but unless you live in Rudd's electorate you didn't vote for him either. The voters never have a say in who becomes Prime Minister, it's always the party that elects the Prime Minister.

It is your right to Disagree! In our system at the moment we vote for parties NOT indivduals. The individuals are called INDPENDANTS. If you vote for a party, the party has the choice of LEADER for that party. this is possibly why we should be asking who will be the LEADER and insist we get a change for the right to also vote for a LEADER,PRIME-MINESTER,PRESIDENT,etc.

WE Get the politicians we deserve.
If people got up and said what they want, instead of whinging,we might get something done in this country.
Our politicians (Government)have their heads that far up where the sun don't shine they are starting to look and smell like a sewage treatment plant.
As for the one world Government we alreadyhave one it is called the IMF (International monatery fund)
We as a people should call for a citizens Rerendum to initiate a vote of no confidence in this present Government, start a petition going to present to the Governor General that we as a people have 'NO CONFIDENCE' in the present Government, see how many people sign it?

I am not so sure it is just the Government, I think you will find we have too many do goooders ( and yes the Gov lisiten to them) but alas I think you are rtight, I don`t smoke any more, I gave it up 3 years ago (my own choice) but I still agree that people should not be ostrichised because it is THEIR CHOICE, I have always stated that, and believe it, NO ONE, NOT ONE PERSON (be it Governments or anyone else) should take our rights away from us I reakon Stand up and be counted!!!!!!

i agree there are alot of do gooders out there, we do need to stand up and be counted.
for the more we lay down and take it the worse its going to get for everyone.
theres a lot of things that people have done for years and they are slowly taking it away from everyone.
would love to organise something to make stand but i'm not sure how you would go about organising a protest against the do gooders and government,
