Carbon pollution

Government & Politics

Now we have a new catch phrase "carbon pollution" This government has dropped the "carbon tax" slogan for this new one. They want you to think that carbon is the dirty black stuff - whereas in fact carbon is a gas - trees need this gas - we breathe it out - and if we didn't have carbon dioxide we would not have a living green planet. If a carbon tax is introduced it will be a cost to us all. Who do you think is going to pay in the long run if the "big pollutors" are taxed - WE ARE. Everything will cost more because the tax will be added to the cost of producing food, power, manufacure etc. Why does this government pursue things that have not been thought out and just rush things without really understanding the end result! Have we all forgotten the disasters that have cost billions - pink bats, schoool halls just to name two. Dont you think we have had enough of this government - lets all start shouting our protests.

Anything that has to do with politics is only typical, they need to learn to get their facts right and actually take the time to look into everything throughly instead of trying to take everything away from us as an individual and also as a country, we are a country that is slowly losing our image, and our kiwiness with everything that is going on lately and it is a matter of time before we are no more if things keep going the way it is

It really makes me mad when I think of the stuff that comes out of the mouths of this government's ministers. They all say the same thing - word for word - and it is just propaganda to get people thinking that paying a carbon tax will somehow save the planet? What they don't say is that we aren't the polluters that we are being accused of. In fact for the every little carbon dioxcide we emit we have a massive continent that has nothing on it so would counteract the emitions we are supposedly emitting. Australia could do everything the government says and yet would make not one bit of difference. Besides there is no way that "green energy gagets" are going to be able to replace the power supply to keep Australia "up and running" Do they want us to fall behind the rest of the world and economy suffer just so the government can have their way. When the PM says she is determined to get her way it makes me shiver. She is more like a spoilt brat than a PM when talks like that.

It's the lunatic greens that are causing this. They have far too much power for their small representation.

The greens are mad and this government is usless - where does that leave the country. Fancy Bob Brown pulling the strings and having his rediculous policies made law. They will completley bankrupt this country with their radical ideas. How a small minority can be so powerful is scarey. The grin on Bob's face gives me the creeps. Julia sold us all out just because she wanted to be PM at any cost.

I do not like Julia Gillard at all and I believe, we will be worse off under carbon pricing.

The worst thing Labour ever did was to get into bed with the greens. They have way too much power considering the very small minority of green lunatics that they represent. They are going to destroy this country. The libs are no better, Rabbot proposed this tax in the first place and now he's against it. What a bunch of hippocrits .

I am also cynical - ALL politicans are concerned about 'their' super/retirment fund - after investigation - ALL sides panic when their retirement slush fund doesn't perform & they mask it as 'tax'...

Hi legend59. I can tell you if I was 30 years younger I would be in politics! Seriously I reckon I could not do a worse job than this lot. At least I would listen to the people I am supposed to be governing. Julia is a Union lawyler and not and never will be a "statesman" which I would have thought was the critria required for a PM. She doesnt look like a PM nor act or speak like one, I cringe when she meets people and says "Hello" is that awful voice. How are we going to survive another 2 years of this very bad government?

Politicians should not be allowed to govern! Honestly there is more politics going on than government at the moment. There are so many important issue that should be concentrated on to make life...

I am also cynical - ALL politicans are concerned about 'their' super/retirment fund - after investigation - ALL sides panic when their retirement slush fund doesn't perform & they mask it as 'tax' ,' recession we had to have' and it is all good for the Nation 'speak !' I include all sides of the Political spectrum.

Politicians should not be allowed to govern! Honestly there is more politics going on than government at the moment. There are so many important issue that should be concentrated on to make life better for the people of this country. Health is still a major issue, homelessness another. Why so much time and money is wasted on the whims of politicians is beyond me. The greens aren't the party that people think they are their policies are radical and in my opinion dangerous. What has happened to our country all seems to be amiss.

Excellent !! at least you are not lead by the nose as all the 'religious' followers of carbon pollution follow this Red Government. I am also appalled that the deaths caused by the insulation scheme have been forgotten - 'collateral' damage as the faceless men of Labor would say(sadly no accountability for Mr. Garrett). We are supposed to be a Democratic society - the argument for this Carbon Tax is laughable - especially around the World Community !!

Thanks for your reply legend59 the more I listen and watch the PM push this tax the more I think she is more comitted to have her way than she is comitted to saving the planet! Ofcourse not believing in anything except the unions it isn't hard to understand her actions. The whole carbon tax thing is just a front to collect a tax and make a few "green energy" companies very rich. Our beautiful landscape is going to destroyed by these ugly wind turbines all over the place, and massive banks of solar panels everywhere. Can you just imagine what the country side is going to look like with these things everywhere so that enough power can be generated to power our houses etc. I heard Peter Costello talking on the Bolt Report the other morning saying that when the emission trading scheme comes in it will cost Australia millions each year to "buy" certificates from ?who?no one seems to know .....you can imagine just what kind of people are going to set up business! Who are the people that think up these things? They are the faceless who sit behind closed doors and come up with schemes and get rich while the rest of us just pay and pay. The planet isn't warming. Australia does not cause the damage we are being accused of, this Government is doing what Bob Brown demanded of Juia so she could be PM and a handful of people are deciding on a tax that the rest of us don't want. How can this government ignore what the people of Australia are screaming out. What makes me so mad is the people who have done so much damage to the people of Australia will be out of government but will leave behind debt and disaster that even our grandchildren will be paying off for a long time. This PM will go onto a very comfortable retirement and we will be footing the bill, she was not elected as PM and yet there she is - the two Independents have a lot to answer for they sold us out.
