Stay away from 'booze' eat lots of veg especailly greens and carrots and fruits especailly apples, oranges and berrys. nuts, milk, eggs, wholemeal bread, oats and whey are also very good.

latest research says cranberry is a waste of money for urinary health. protein is only a problem if you actually have renal failure. dehydration is a concern but don't forget the bushman of the kalahari desert only drink water every few days and don't have any kidney problems!!!

Go on the Halleluja Diet and lifestyle. www.hacres.com
Also make sure you drink enough water.
Don't eat too much protein.

The best thing you can do for your kidneys, is to drink plenty of plain water. Nowadays most people don't drink sufficient plain water, and end up dehydrated.

Hi there my brother had problems with his kidneys and required a transplant. While he was waiting he had to be careful to eat food that contained little or no Potassium. As a result, he limited his intake of certain foods - acidic foods such as tomatoes twice a week; same with pasta and potatoes, which had to be peeled and soaked before cooking. He also drank light beer rather than the red wines which he preferred.

Hello again, I too have had problems with my weight most of my life. The Specialist told me not to have tomatoes and I said to him that I am on a diet. He said it is up to you but that was his opinion. He also said no grapefruit. I don't like them too much so that wasn't a problem. But the tomatoes were. It is hard to have a salad without tomatoes. I hope you do well with your diet, it is not an easy thing to do. Kind Regards Chris

Thank you Chris, for replying. That must of been hard loosing a kidney when you were young.I was 75 when all this started,I've never had kidney trouble in my life, but an Specialist made a mistake,I feel blessed that it wasn't cancer,I know about drinking a lot of water, didn't know about tomatoes,as I have weight to loose.I've been having them every day with my salad,so I'll cut them out and will certainly try cranberry juice.
Thank you again Chris.Regards Seesaw.

Hi Seesaw, I too only have one kidney. I was told that cranberry juice is great for kidneys. Also plenty of water to rinse the kidney out. Don't have a lot of citrus juice or acid food such as tomatoes. Not having too much weight on is also good. I had my kidney removed as it was diseased. I was 10 years old. I am now in my 50s so you can have a normal life with one kidney. Hope that helps you a little bit Kind Regards Chris
