I don't believe change of life is an excuse, you cannot do as you please because of a hormonal crisis, there is no way her behaviour can be considered responsible at present, people have to be held accountable regardless of any so called age related mid life crisis, if this is the reason then she should not be running the country in guise of PM!

Strangely enough my opinion of Julia Gillard is no different now that when she was looking lovingly at K Rudd when he was speaking as the prime minister, so supportive, and giving the appearance that she had his back. I said to my friends back then she is after his job, and it came to pass. I have never believed a word that comes from her mouth, harsh maybe, but she has yet to change my mind! I cannot invisage a time that she will ever change my opinion of her, but stranger things have happened!

I don't think it is just mid-life crisis affecting Julia. I think she is just a power hungry, back stabber. She is the very first female PM, and she is labor. I am a labor supporter, and female. I should be over the moon about her!!! I'm not!!! I just want her gone. I hope Bob Carr or Kevin Rudd can oust her.

Here's a question - since Bob Carr has gone to the Senate, can he challenge for the leadership? I just don't know so figured I'd ask.

I just want Gillard gone, she has done nothing since getting the minority government. Nothing except tearing the labor party to peices. She led one of the most disgraceful and disgusting campaigns of tearing down a former PM. They wuldn't even do that sort of thing to the opposition; yet they were perfectly happy to do it to a former leader and PM. For that reason alone she needs to go. It was disgraceful.

What Gillard is doing has nothing to do with her age or hormonal levels. She is only interested in power & will do whatever is needed to retain it, she is the first female PM & wants to set more new firsts. Being leader in a hung parliament also adds to the turmoil this country is suffering at her hands since she has to appease the faceless men to stay in that position.

Her decisions are not mid life crisis ones? She has a head problem and believes that she is the only person who has the wisdom to run this country. She is also power hungry and will do what it takes to retain that power whether it is in the best interest of population individually or as a nation, or not! The current federal government is totally out of control. Socialism (used to be known as communism) is alive and well in Oz unfortunately.

wonderful and great achievements by the Gillard government?????????? where have I been living in the last year? 2 new taxes, great just what we always wanted. More of that to come as with all the promises she has made lately she will need more money. What else? Aaahha Gay marriage, a conscience vote? pandering to the Greens who are running the government with 7% of Australia's vote? Shucks, I give up, lets revolt. Nothing to do with mid live crisis, she has always been like this. Read her biography.

If this a mid life crisis i will walk on water! Gillard is arrogant, does not have or deserve any respect, does not care what is happening to Australia the scary part about this is that people will consider voting for this "Government".

Australia will be taxed out of existence. Australians also paying Flood Tax will not be too pleased to know that the Queensland flood area of Brisbane was caused by foolish people in charge of the Wivenhoe Dam!

Julia Gillard is the first Australian Prime Minister who is perceived by the majority of Australians to be a Liar.
Her Speaker of the House is percieved my many to be a thief.
One of her supporters, Craig Thompson is currently being investigated for theft of union funds.
She calls Tony Abbot, 'Dr No', when she is reall a 'Dr.No Idea"

My only problem with her has been her stance on gay marriage and asylum seekers. These seem to be influenced too much by worries about her popularity. I admire her for making some tough but unpopular decisions some of which are being vindicated already.
The subject of this this discussion is typical of the garbage that female pollies have to put up with. Let's try forgetting her gender and look at the LONG TERM effect of her policies.

A "try Hard" lacking in statesmanship and dignity. She must stop trying to appeal as a celebrity and get down to some core business. Australia needs much more inertia under a directional leader who manages the economy and our vast opportunities which we are too timid to activate.

It has all been said in this forum but I need to voice my own displeasure as well. For fifty years I have worked my butt off in this country and finally when I retire this happens. From no Debt and money in the bank as well as the futures fund this government has in the last 4 years managed to put us back in the red to the tune of nearly 200 billion. What do I think of Julia now? She has not made one positive contribution to Australia other than stabbing Kevin 07 in the back. One failure after another, we must be the laughing stock of the world. bring on the next election and get rid of these pretenders to the throne!!!!

what happened? a whole lot of people who can't seem to think for themselves voted Greens rather than vote Liberal, and handed the country over to the Labor party. History shows that the Labor party gets the country into debt and then the country wises up and votes Liberal, Liberal takes several terms to get the country out of the manure and then the Labor party run their election campaign with a slogan something along the lines of "it's time for a change", people get sucked in, they vote Labor (or they vote Greens because their brain is out of gear) and we are back on the Merry-go-round. Julia Gillard should not have been allowed to form a government after such a monumental landslide vote against her. The only person in Australia with more personal ambition than Ms Gillard, is Rob Oakshott. I hope that he gets voted out in the next election (which Ms Gillard will ensure is as late as she can possibly make it, in order to maximise the damage she can do to Australia)

I have been sent emails on the low opinion they have of this government & their nil care attitude, when it comes time for a pay rise, never a second thought. I believe in pay for performance, WELL, I know the pollies in Government, the qld pollies & tassie pollies would be standing in line at the dole office! What a sad state of affairs. The greens are a bunch of wankers, I do not even know what they stand for anymore! Definitely not for the people only for themselves & trying to push them onto us. Hope & pray libs have got something to offer, not real sure of Abbott, be better if they had a strong leader! Most have a silver spoon I wonder, reason they do not understand the true blue battlers. They have lost their way!

I think she is a very smart, calculating woman As for the change of life I don't think that would ever phase her. Thinking back on Kevin Rudd and the way she went about his dismissal as prime minister. It takes a very ambitious, patient and intelligent person to calculate all the right moves so she could slide right in. I hope the people of Australia realise that there not dealing with an ordinary person. She is a spider and we are the ones in the web Rising interest rates, higher prices for electricity, food, petrol and the cost of her actions on our country will eventually take it's toll on the people of this great country.

I agree with you Lynstar007. Gillard is an example of a calculating woman in power. She is blind to the real circumstances for many Australians.
No idea how to manage finances. Time for a change, bit don't want Abbot as leader. Not much choice for 'quality' that we expect.
I hate preferential voting. Makes it unclear who one is really voting for.
I don't really agree with an early election either, as it is huge amounts overspent on campaigning.

Thank you Nusanan. A smart alec? Wish I am.
May be I am smart, but I certainly know very little. I like our prime minister. I find that she present very well in all her talks and interviews (but again here I must say I do not know much-I do not follow anything much. Least of all the news.). I even agree to the carbon tax, though I do not understand why she should promised no carbon tax and changed her mind. But really I do not know enough here to form any opinion.

I am a great advocate of looking after our own first before we can help anybody else ie boat people. At this stage in life there should not be the battling, each should live comfortably & not worry about bills. There is a lot of money that goes overseas, why? Indonesia gets lots of money, why? I worry that the money going out of Australia little would go to people rest government to make ammunition to use here is a scary thought. The set top box is a crack up, why not give all a voucher for groceries, it would be more beneficial.

I dont know what it is about this PM and her henchmen, but one thing I am sure of and that is Australia will never recover from the disasters that their policies have caused. Billions wasted - 1000's of ayslum seekers arriving, roits caused by deliberate behaviour of people who are supposedly here to become part of Australia. I feel like we are being invaded by people who deep down don't want to be part of who we are but wipe out our culture and way of life. Julia Gillard should never have been made PM she wasn't voted in nor was her government two Independents gave her the job and they in my opinion SOLD OUT the rest of us.

I did not know sharing government can bring on mid life crisis.
You think Greens are loosing power in Tas? What power did they have? Did they lost it because of hopeless decisions? A bunch of idiots? What idiots voted them in power?
Or may be unpopular decisions?
What is the real world? Ha ha
If you find you are talking to an idiot. You may be right. I do not know much.
