My male cat Charlie, follows me around the house, everywhere I go! He has to sleep with me to know where I am at all times but once let outside, he seems FREE! But when I get home, he has to be back inside with me!
Any thoughts? Thanks Cathie

I think your cat a bit of a worry wart, little bit overprotective it's pretty cute

OMG not another one. Both my cats Tiger boy and Patchy girl are like little dogs. They growl at cars that come up the drive, run to the front door when there is a knock and they both sleep with me at night. They will even start crying out if I leave the room without them. goodness knows what happens when I go out but when I return there they are both together on my bed happy as can be. they even sit on the kitchen table just to be with me.

With Charlie, I can pat my bed and say UP and he jumps up! He even lets me clean his face! doesn't like it to start with but then enjoys every minute of it.
So much like a dog! He also comes when he is called too! They are definitely able to be trained.

I have the same! I don't like letting my cat out often due to proximity to a main road, but when he does get out all I have to do is call and do a few meows and he will come meowing back at me.
He certainly does seem more like a dog. I wanted to know if he was unique so I google imaged cat breeds, and found what breed he was by the looks of other cats, then found out some traits. Turns out his breed all of his traits are indicative of his breed.
I guess that certainly means its worth checking out breeds before getting a cat.. I guess i just got lucky :)
I'd say we certainly are the lucky ones!

Oriental breeds (Siamese, Burmese, Abyssinian etc) are much more people oriented cats. Your chap probably has some oriental in him. Does he talk a lot too?

He talks all the time, basically say "hello" and demands to be feed sliced ham or chicken when I walk near the fridge!. Always meowing to want something! although is he a perfect gentleman, he lets the female cats have dinner first and he has what is left over! (even though he has his own bowl). His origin is unknown as he was abandoned by the neighbours when I lived in Moree. So not sure if he has any oriental in him.

I have a cat who does the same, she's a Ragdoll and it's in their nature to behave like a dog. She walks to the letterbox with me :-) and follows me into the toilet and into the bathroom when I have a shower!
So it's either just his nature, maybe he just loves you a lot! Or he could be insecure perhaps. You're his Mum!

Hi! I agree, I am his mum! My two females just want to cuddle up on my lap when I am watching TV! Charlie is very propective. Maybe for two reasons, being male and being rescued by me.

my cat bella is like an extra shadow. if she's inside, she's with me, or on my bed. if I go out into the yard she follows, but will wander off when she feels like it. she barely tollerates my father and brothers, and openly hates my 6yr old faughter. I find it all quite amusing though, as she has stopped deliberately hurting my daughter (mostly because my daughter gives, her a wide berth). when my father or brothers try to pat her or play, the teeth an claws come out, an4 I can stick my hand into the middle of it and be fine. we have worked out though that most of the behaviour stems fromthe fact that she was rescued from a gutter in the middle of a storm at 4wks old and I had to bottle feed for 2wks, becoming a surrogate mother to her and therefore, her property. she can be very possesive over me and my belongings. i've noticed, with many of the cats i've had, that while they are generally independent, they just need to be near mum alot.

i know what you mean. I basically rescued Charlie from his previous owners. they had alre4ady broken his tail and rarely gave him food or water. I had always left out something for him and his sister. His sister had kittens and apparently, she was thrown out of a car (as they were leaving the town I was in) and their brother-in law wanted to break Charlie's neck to get rid of him. I got asked if I wanted him, I said "Can I think about it?" I was told no, he going now. So I said I'd keep him. BUT their brother in law wanted his collar (worth about $3!).
so glad I have him! He is my honey!

I have always said that our oldest cat Max, thinks he is a dog!! He growls when he sits at the window and a stranger walks by!! When the kids go across the road to the school oval he just sits at the side of the fence watching over them! Always like he is keeping an eye on them!! If I go over to the oval aswell he follows me......meowing....its so funny!!

Yes I know what you mean! I only have to walk to the fridge and he is asking for food! Yet the 2 females don't. But he is a total gentleman, he lets the girls have the cats food before he has any!
