Learner Drivers

I believe it's time we ensured those responsible for teaching new drivers actually have the capabilities to do so. We train teachers to teach, we have professional sports coaches, we employ tradesmen to repair things but we allow anybody to get behind the wheel to pass on many bad habits or poor driving methods. Maybe a learner needs to have the person who will be teaching them the ropes to be certified to do so. I cringe when I think of the consequences of some of the drivers that I pass on the road actually teaching somebody else.

I completely agree!
My girlfriend is learning to drive and both her parents learned to drive overseas, and aren't the best at communicating instructions. I have supervised her on private property and she has said that I'm a much better instructor (I'm still on my provisional license!).
Perhaps compulsory driving refresher tests should be instigated? At license renewal dates would be a good time to do there for EVERYONE.

When you teach someone to drive, it is much better to use a qualified learner instructor at the start, middle and end to teach them the correct way and when they are driving with a licensed driver to remember what they were taught and improve on there teachings and if they have to "correct " the licensed driver they do so.
