A year after plain packaging was introduced, we asked you if you thought it had had an effect and was working to stop people smoking. Was it a worthwhile change, or just an example of the Government making decisions for us?

I'm 22 years old and I never smoke before. My whole family are smoking. My mom, brother, sister, cousins, and everyone. I don't think the picture on cigarette's package will work on my family or other smokers because they don't care about the picture. There are three reasons why they don't care.
Reason one is they don't believe in a picture (maybe they think it's a fake?) and they might think that it will never bad happen to them in the future, just like in a picture. They think they will be full healthy in the future if they keep smoking.
Reason two is that some of the people can't stop smoking, even though they wanted to. Long time ago, my mom stopped smoking in a year and she was happy. But now she back to smoke again because she feels so urge to smoke again. I'm not smoking but I do understand how hard to stop smoking. I believe that the picture on cigarette are not strong enough to help them to stop.
Reason three is that they always need to smoking to calm down when they are having a hard times. That is why some of the smokers are angry when they see the picture. They just ignored it because they need in smoking.
I like how the government put a picture for the people's sake. I do understand why the government do that. And yes, many smokers say it won't change them. It's sad but true. But don't give up! Keep putting picture and let have a hope that someday they will change their mind to stop smoking. It's better that way.
