To be quite honest, I am past the whole "buy the brand-name" items. There are certainly some products where I would only buy brand name, for example, Cadbury chocolate will always be no.1 for me over home brand. But in terms of something like Pringles, I have been buying home brand. It is literally less than half the price and you cannot taste the difference. I am not sure if maybe I am just kind of "immune" to the cheaper taste now that I have been buying home brand, but I cant really tell. Most items I buy now aren't named brand such as milk, ice-cream, frozen meals, cold meat, chips, lollies, tuna, pasta, sauces, etc.
I do however believe that if you have a named brand on the odd occasion, it may be more appealing because it has a slight edge over home brand, but as soon as I return to home brand I do not feel different at all. All in all, for the price difference, it seems pointless to buy named brand most of the time.
