Home Brand vs Named Brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

Yes, and those are probably manufactured by the same company and are the "end of the line" for the day as it is called in the industy. I worked at a Distribution Centre for 40 years. The generic brands are made by big name manufacturers on the same equipment. With exception of in-store bakeries most of the generic bread comes from Tip Top unless they have lost the contract. I have a relative that works in the bakery itself in Adelaide. They simply put it in generic branded bags. If you are in the supermarkets at the right time you will see it unpacked from brand labelled crates.
