I really hate the way the supermarkets are filling up the shelves with all the no name brands. I hate losing the brands I am used to, as you know what to expect when you pick a certain name brand over others.
No name brands are a mixed bunch, simply because you have no idea which big company made them. My hubby used to work for McCains and he said the only difference with their brand compared to no name brands, is that when the product - say pizza was being processed and it had less say cheese or other toppings on it than McCains standards - they swapped the packages to the no name supermarket and packaged them up as them. So by buying the no name brand you are actually getting inferior products to the name brands, most times BUT it also worked the same way if say the product was coming down the line and had too much topping - then they would swap the packaging and package them as no name again - so sometimes you could get a better deal. But as you can see - the standards of the no name brands are very loose, so you can never be sure how good the product is you are buying even though it is mostly processed/made by a name brand anyway. Which is why I prefer the name brands so I know who made it and know what to expect taste and appearance wise.
