Home Brand vs Named Brand

Are there brands that you used to buy that are no longer in your local supermarket? What do you think of all these 'home brands'? Are they just as good as the named brands, are they cheaper, or are you still hankering after something in particular that just seems to have disappeared from the shelves? Give us your opinion.

I think that home brands are supermarkets efforts to make similar products more affordable for consumers while being more profitable for them. I have often found that the quality of these products is compromised in this. But there are also products that have seemed to meet the standard for me. It's very individual as to what things are "as good"
