I actually buy both name brand and generic depending on the ingredients. My family have some food tolerances and I frequently find that some of the things that set them off are not in the home brand products which makes them safer for my family to eat. The only choc milk powder that we can buy is the Woolies home brand one and it is $3 a time so that really works for me. But I personally love the Cadbury chocolate powder that sticks in your throat and clumps in your glass so I buy that just for me from time to time!! That said there are some wonderful products that have disappeared over the years and are never replaced by anything of reasonable quality or for a reasonable price, like tomato magic where oh where did it go?
