Cars are vital in my town as the public transport is almost non existent. So getting a job, doing shopping or getting to appointments & social events are difficult without one.
I owned expensive cars in the past before I divorced but they never did much for me apart from being enoyable to drive on long distance trips, I was never a show off like my now x husband was when it came to using cars as a status symbol. The only time I ever wanted a new car was when the one I had been driving started to let me down too often, even then I didn't get what I wanted because it was too plain for him.
The car I own now I bought brand new & I made the decision on what to get, it is a stylish car but most of all it has very good safety features such as curtain airbags. That was an important factor in what to buy at the time & will do me for some time yet until it starts to let me down I guess. I doubt I will ever buy another new car after the warranty issues I had with this one & nearly every part in it has been replaced, by rights I should have just got a replacement & be done with taking it back every other week.
