Decades ago I was in love with my old cars e.g. 1967 Chevrolet convertible that I bought for $2650 dollars, loved it to bits. Then a 1949 Studebaker Champion, loved it to its, if we would have had the garage or property to keep the cars then we now would be rich, a 1959 Plymouth Belvedere, the second cherry pink one that was brought into Australia, we were just married, on a shoestring, rented a two roomed 'flat' for $9 p.w. don't forget in the 60's when I worked at the SEC as a typist my wage was 7 pounds 14 shillings a week, approx. $15.00 p.w. we loved our cars with a passion, anybody that would try and sit on our bonnet at a hotrod or speedway races, I would turf them off as soon as I saw them, cars are to be sit in and not on bonnets, kids called the Plymouth Belvedere "Batmobile''...12'' chrome bumper bars, 19' long, push button auto. and I could park it with my eyes shut (nearly), easy to drive and park. At the present time at 71 and a half years of age, lucky if I could step into a bus, spinal ops put an end to that, I still drive, have my HA semi licence, though would need a forklift to raise me up to get into the cabin at the moment...ha ha. So living out in the country 100km from Melbourne, have not been on a bus since the 50's and 60's, always drove and drive now. Our cars we washed and polished, I checked my own car, oil, petrol, auto. trans. everything, every few days, when you love a car, the car is your love.
